The Lab’s Top Five Financial Polices You Should Read

Image representing policies and proceduresEvery Berkeley Lab employee plays a role in ensuring that the Lab’s financial management is effective, and that financial records are complete and accurate.

In 2018, Director Witherall launched Berkeley Lab’s Stewardship web-page. A key stewardship principle addressed on that site is the Responsible Stewardship of Resources, including financial accountability and transparency.  The site contains key resources for understanding financial stewardship at Berkeley Lab.

With over 50 financial policies listed in Berkeley Lab’s Requirements and Policy Manual (RPM), how do you know which financial responsibilities are part of your role at the Lab?
The Office of the Chief Financial Officer has identified five key financial policies that all employees should understand:

  1. Financial Management – Core Principles
  2. Time and Labor Reporting
  3. Personal Property Management
  4. Procurement of Goods and Services
  5. Pay Periods, Computations, and Deductions

In addition, the OCFO Policy Matrix is a valuable tool to identify additional policies that you should be familiar with based on your role. This site has LDAP protection and is available if you have an LDAP account. OCFO employees have additional policies with which they should be familiar. View each matrix by selecting a link below:
