With just one week until Founders Day, new activities are still being added. For example, as part of the Noon Ceremony, guests are invited to join Director Chu in singing happy birthday and blowing out candles on a cake. Cake for 600 will be served in the cafeteria after 1 p.m. Also included in the ceremony will be a group shot of all guests gathered in the cafeteria parking lot, taken by staff photographer Roy Kaltschmidt. The photo will be included with other items in the time capsule. The Lab's Ping Pong Club will have a table set up in Perseverance Hall, with open play from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. The club will conduct the semifinal round of its tournament from 1 to 2 p.m.

Notebook Battery Recall
Announced by Dell

Dell laptop
Dell has identified a potential issue associated with certain batteries sold with Dell Latitude, Inspiron, XPS and Dell Precision Mobile Workstation notebook computers. Dell is voluntarily recalling certain Dell-branded batteries with cells manufactured by Sony and offering free replacements for these batteries. The batteries were shipped to customers between April 1, 2004 and July 18, 2006. Dell has indicated that 14 percent of these batteries are candidates for recall. Under rare conditions, it is possible for these batteries to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire. Employees who think that their batteries might need to be replaced should visit Dell's website or contact the Help Desk (x4357).
