New Potter St. Name:
Berkeley West Biocenter

Now that biological scientists and staff from Berkeley Lab and UC Berkeley are officially functioning at the new facility at 717 Potter Street in Berkeley, management has given them a new name and identity — Berkeley West Biocenter. The research building is a multidisciplinary facility with focus in synthetic biology, cell and molecular biology, cancer research, and quantitative biology. Every employee, even non-scientists, should be familiar with the various warning signage that is used around the Lab. Knowing the difference can help prevent injuries. Update on Softball
League Standings

After four weeks of play in the Lab summer softball league, Silver and Black are in first place (4-0), followed by Rated X (3-0), SUDZ (2-1), Ballpark Estimate (2-2), Hit & Run (1-3), Animals (0-3), and TBD (0-3). The next set of games (SUDZ vs. Ballpark Estimates, Rated X vs. Silver and Black, TBD vs. Animals) is scheduled for tomorrow, starting at 6 p.m. on Maxwell Field, just north of Memorial Stadium.

NERSC Division Deputy
Earns NASA Award

Kramer

Bill Kramer, NERSC Division Deputy, recently received a NASA Group Achievement Award for the Advanced Air Transportation Technologies Project Team. Kramer was one of the original seven members of the project team from September 1994 to February 1996. He eventually became the first AATT Program Office Director in 1995. Kramer was cited for "highly successful research and technology transfer leading to improved operation of the National Airspace system." Go here for more information on the award.

Information Meetings
On FITSCO Transition

Participant account and recordkeeping services for the Defined Contribution Plan (DC Plan) and Tax Deferred 403(b) Plan are now provided by Fidelity Investments Tax-Exempt Services Company (FITSCO).   The three plans (DC Plan, 403(b) Plan and 457(b) Plan) will be known as the University of California Retirement Savings Program. To learn more about this transition and the services it will provide, employees can attend one of three information sessions tomorrow in the Building 66 Auditorium. The sessions start at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. One-on-one counseling sessions are also available. Call 800-642-7131 to reserve a spot.
