'Patients' Train Doctors
To Perform Health Exams
By Vanessa Hua

Wentworth

Frustrated with doctors who were uncomfortable about discussing sensitive, gender specific health issues, Kat Wentworth became an educator, and now teaches how to perform certain examinations — and she's the "patient.'' Wentworth trains medical and nursing students at Stanford, UCSF and Touro University in Vallejo, heads Oakland's “Project Prepare,” and works part-time for Lab's Carcinogenic Potency Project, located in the Life Sciences Division. SUCCESS STORIES

Analysis Shows Phone
Rates Among Lowest

A review of Berkeley Lab’s telephone services rates indicates that their costs are among the lowest anywhere. The service order labor rate, for example, is $55 an hour, compared to industry’s average of $85 and other labs’ average of $72. Similarly, the $58-per-hour video conferencing rate beats industry ($200) and other labs ($220). The monthly phone recharge of $38 is lower than most. Telephone Services manager Richard Gregory also said the online validation process for cell phone users is proving to be cost-effective and may be a model for other labs.
