Graduate Research Assistant- Advisor: R. O. Ritchie

Exponent Failure Analysis Associates, Natick, MA  (07/2001 through 06/2003)
Engineer, Mechanics and Materials group- Consultant for a variety of litigation, industrial, and government projects.  Tasks include field inspections, microscopy, literature research, metallographic sample preparation, materials testing, and the design and performance of risk assessment experiments.  Also served as laboratory and chemical safety contact for the office.

Rohm and Haas Company, Bristol, PA  (05/2000 through 08/2000)
Hazards Analysis and Environmental Engineering Intern -Tested the newest version of the accidental release modeling software program, PHAST 6.0, and prepared it for company-wide release.  Obtained and analyzed data used to apply for a new emissions permit that will lead to increased production and decreased maintenance costs for manufacturing plant.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Materials Research Center, Troy, NY  (05/1999 through 08/1999)
Research Intern- One of twelve students chosen from an applicant pool of 70 to participate in the National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduates program at Rensselaer.  Researched and tested the phase stability of Nickel-based superalloy weldments for turbine application for General Electric Power Systems Company in Schenectady, NY.  Participated in bi-weekly seminars on emerging materials research.  Presented results at the end of summer to professors and peers.
