Moira Howard-Jeweler of Berkeley Lab's Washington DC office discusses energy-efficient technologies with a visitor at the recent Expo sponsored by the House Renewable Energy Caucus and held on May 21 on Capitol Hill. The Lab's exhibit, submitted by the Environmental Energy Technologies Division, featured live demonstrations of UV Waterworks, "cool" (high-albedo) roofing material, and energy-efficient compact fluorescent lamps. Officials included at least two dozen members of Congress, Department of Energy Secretary Federico Peña, Assistant Secretary Dan Reicher, Undersecretary Ernest Moniz, and Martha Krebs, director of the Office of Energy Research. The attendance was estimated at 2,800 -- about double that of last year's event.
