Piet Mondrian. Blue Plane. 1921
Often called "the scientist" for his analytical approach to
painting, Piet Mondrian was most famous for his bold works of art featuring
rectangles of red, yellow, blue and white arranged in compact pictorial
harmony. Such an integration of individual yet complementary elements
calls to mind Berkeley Lab's own scientific enterprise, in which researchers
from vastly different disciplines work together to solve fundamental problems
in health, physics, advanced technology, and the environment.
