Action Item:  Discuss BaBar Shifter Job Analysis @ next meeting

 

Electrical Restrictions (Over 50 volts):

• If it's live, please do not manipulate
• Probing is OK
• Live Electrical Work Policy - Addendum to PUB-3000 (handout)

 

Laser Accidents:

• Laser accidents on the rise - Four accidents in the last 12 months
• PI was doing the work in most cases
• 03/13/2003 - Laser accident on Campus.  Not a Lab project; Not a Lab employee.  Laser was purchased with DOE money, so this was considered an LBNL accident
• We end up being responsible for projects we have no control over

 

Safety Coordinator's Meeting:

• Lab Cleanouts
• Reminder about protective gear - Waiting for some clarification on this
• Gas Canisters (Lessons Learned) - Do not pick up canister by the cap/cover
• Do not throw chemicals in the trash
• All Hands meeting in January
• Clean out SAAs prior to inspections.  Inspected by the City of Berkeley.  Inspectors will look at chemical inventory also

 

Chemical Reminders:

·        Be sure of correct storage

·        Use correct secondary containment

·        Be aware of expiration dates and segregation

 

Misc. Issues:

• Inspections - January 24^th, 11AM
• Invite Tom Caronna to 01/10/05 Safety Meeting to discuss electrical safety
• Chemical barcode labels for Maurice
