Nuclear Science
- Nuclear Science Division
The Nuclear Science Division's programs include
Nuclear Structure and Reactions, Relativistic Nuclear Collisions,
Nuclear & Particle Astrophysics, Nuclear Data Evaluation, & the
Nuclear Theory Group.
- 88-Inch Cyclotron
The Cyclotron, which accelerates beams from hydrogen to uranium,
is operated by the Nuclear Science Division supporting national programs
in nuclear science, biology, medicine, and industrial applications.
The Cyclotron is the site of Gammasphere, a high resolution gamma-ray
detector array.
- Table of Isotopes
Eighth edition of the Table of Isotopes; free software which allows nuclear
decay scheme drawings and tables to be displayed on personal computers; the
Table of Superdeformed Nuclear Bands and Fission Isomers; nuclear
astrophysics data; and atomic mass data.
- Periodic Table of
the Isotopes Educational site
- Gamquest, a computer program for identifying isotopes by analysis of their gamma ray emissions.
- BNL-AGS Experiment E896
E896 is a search for short-lived composite strange matter (in particular
the H0 di-baryon) and an investigation of hyperon production in
11.6 A GeV/c AuAu Collisions.
- BNL-AGS Experiment E878
The BNL-AGS E878 experiment is an investigation of antinucleus production
and a search for new meta-stable particles produced in Au+Au Collisions
at 11 A*GeV/c
- STAR Experiment
An experiment to search for the quark-gluon plasma at the Relativistic
Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) operated by Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL).
STAR stands for Solenoidal Tracker At RHIC.
