he Seventh Workshop on Advanced Accelerator Concepts will be held from October 12 to October 18, 1996 in the Granlibakken Conference Center at Lake Tahoe, California, USA. This series started in the early 1980s. The last two workshops were held at the Abbey at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, USA in 1994 and at Port Jefferson in Long Island, New York, USA in 1992. The 1996 workshop will be sponsored, as per tradition, by the U.S. Department of Energy (High Energy Physics Division, Advanced Technology Branch). Also sponsoring the workshop are the Center for Beam Physics at Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and the University of California.
The program will consist of a set of invited talks throughout the week, solicited from international experts and recommended by the Advisory and Program Committee. These talks will fill the plenary sessions--taking the entire first day of the workshop, and consisting of one or two per day thereafter. The last day of the workshop will be devoted to the presentation of the Working Group summaries. The rest of the workshop time will be spent in working-group discussions (seven in all), spontaneous group discussions, and poster presentations. The posters will be exhibited the entire time of the workshop, with perhaps one rotation of posters. There will be an informal reception upon arrival, a free afternoon of tours, a Boating Excursion, and a Workshop Banquet.

October weather at Lake Tahoe is unpredictable and can range from very cool evenings to warm daytime temperatures. Comfortable clothing is suggested, and you should bring a warm jacket. Walking shoes are recommended.
By Air
The Reno Cannon International Airport serves the Lake Tahoe area. Direct and connecting flights from San Francisco and other major U.S. cities are available. Participants flying into the Bay Area can also rent a car and drive directly Granlibakken in about four hours.Granlibakken Conference Center is a 50-minute drive from the Reno Cannon Airport. Granlibakken offers shuttle services from the airport at a cost of $25.00 per person each way. Other shuttle services are available from AeroTrans (702-786-2376) and No Stress Express (800-426-5644), both located in the Reno Cannon Airport. Individuals should contact these vendors directly. Advance reservations are suggested.
By Automobile
From the Bay Area. Take Interstate 80 east from the Bay Area (ask for map and/or directions from car rental agency). This four-hour drive will take you through the Sacramento Valley, the state capital, and into the Sierra Nevada range. When driving through Sacramento, take the Highway 80 exit to Reno. At Truckee, take Highway 89 south to Tahoe City for approximately 13 miles. Bear right at the first stop light (Chateau Cadeau Home Furnishings is on the right-hand side), and continue on Highway 89 south for 1/2 mile to Granlibakken Road. Turn right on Granlibakken Road, and continue 3/4 mile to the deck overhang of the Main Building for registration and lodging assignments.From Reno. heck-in begins on Saturday, October 12, at 3:00 p.m. Rooms are not available before this time. Upon arrival, report to the registration desk in the Main Building for your room assignment. You may also pick up conference registration material at this time. A welcome reception with hearty appetizers will be served in lieu of a sit-down dinner on Saturday. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will end at 8:30 p.m. Those who plan to arrive late should alert the Granlibakken Conference Center staff when making reservations. Sunday arrivals should check in as above and then proceed to the conference registration desk. If you plan to arrive at Granlibakken before Saturday, October 12, you must make prior arrangements directly with the conference center. The accommodation prices quoted above are for Saturday arrival/Friday departure.

A boat trip on Lake Tahoe has been planned for Tuesday, October 15. No sessions will be held that afternoon. Attendance on the excursion is voluntary. Please check the appropriate box on the registration form and include the fee of $25.00 per person. Dinner is not available at Granlibakken on Tuesday evening. Information will be available at the workshop on local restaurants and sights.Banquet
The official workshop banquet will be held Wednesday October 16. Attendance at this event is covered in the housing fees paid to Granlibakken Conference Center.

INFORMATION for AUTHORS
The workshop proceedings will be published, following tradition, in the American Institute of Physics Conference Proceedings Series. The proceedings will be published in both electronic (CD-ROM) and hard-copy format, as with the last workshop, and authors may choose on the enclosed Advance Registration Form which publishing format they prefer. Those who do not choose a format will receive their proceedings on CD-ROM.All manuscripts are due immediately upon arrival at the workshop, without exception. Instructions for preparation of manuscripts are provided in the Instructions for Authors. All participants are invited to contribute to the proceedings.
To have your contribution considered for either contributed oral or poster presentation you must submit an abstract (250 words or less) by August 31, 1996. Please send your abstract to the Conference Chairman (Swapan Chattopadhyay) before this date. Indicate your preferred Working Group on the abstract.
Workshop leaders will notify authors of their presentation type before September 1, 1996.
