Fatigue properties of advanced composite materials and aluminum alloys

Study of crack propagation mechanisms and of the effect of microstructure (ex.: matrix/reinforcement interface characteristics in composite materials) on fatigue properties (Prof. Gian Luca Garagnani, Prof. Roberto Tovo, University of Ferrara);

Tribology (tribological properties of aluminum matrix composites for the production of brake discs (in collaboration with Brembo, Italy): micro-scale abrasive wear);

Scientific Instrumentation

SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), AFM, X-ray Diffraction, Stylus and Optical profilometer, scratch tester, several wear testing instruments (including Micro scale abrasion test), mechanical testing (in particular fatigue testing).

Knowledge of Windows 95/98/NT/2000 with PC’s and Mac’s.

Experienced with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, CAD, CAM and other graphical and analytical software, in particular software for image analysis.
