Research Interests

Surface nanoengineering methods, nano-/microscale contact mechanics, tribology, mechanical behavior of bulk and thin-film materials, deposition of single and multi-layer thin films (RF sputtering, ion beam, and filtered cathodic vacuum arc) and microanalysis/characterization, shape-memory alloy materials in film and bulk form, tribology and fatigue of nano-/microelectromechanical systems (NEMS/MEMS), nanoparticle/catalysis, Li-ion battery electrode materials, surface chemistry and nanoscale viscoelastic properties of polymers, surface modification of polyethylene for total joint arthroplasty and intravenous catheter operations, protein lubrication and mechanotransduction mechanisms in articulate cartilage, cell mechanics, surface functionalization for controlled cell adhesion and proliferation, surface force microprobe techniques, finite element analysis of surface contact interactions.
